Ebay is asking its users to reset their passwords due to the unauthorized access to our corporate information network. This may result in a delay of service due to the high traffic volume. We ask for your patience and that you return to eBay soon. In the meantime, please be assured that no activity can occur on your account until your password is reset.

I was able to log in without a problem. Maybe they're just giving special attention to frequent buyers. :)

I have a VeriSign Card attached to my ebay account. I need to put in a code every time I login. It's like a lot of online banking.

    Maybe that's why I didn't get a response like erco's.

Now it's working. Phew, I can finally come inside from the ledge I was perched on.

My biggest fear is that some cyber hacker may get better Ebay deals than I do, before I do!

It was the top story on CNN for a short bit today, looks like now its very hidden not even mentioned on the front page...

Guess it happened two months ago...

As of this morning I've still not received any request to change my password. I just now logged out and back on to be sure. I guess they decided it wasn't that big of a deal after all. Funny they would wait almost 3 months before making it public, then do nothing about it. Of course, these are the same geniuses that decided wildcard characters in searches weren't necessary.

It's been in the news everywhere, but I haven't got a message either. In any case I had changed my password some time ago already, because of the heartbleed thing. And that was some time after that alleged break-in.

EBay has been hacked, but the data that was gotten in encrypted. Only time will tell what mischief this will cause.

Actually, I am pleased to see that they are asking users to change their passwords if they believe there is a security problem for that user. I guess they are not asking everyone. (In other words Erco, you might have been hacked.)

Definitely smart of them to ask people to change their passwords. Only hope this doesn't turn out to be a serious problem in the future.

Their site returned to normal within an hour and did not require a password change mentioned previously , but it would certainly be prudent to change passwords!

Not sure what happened to Erco, but I checked my EBay account today and there was a message asking me to also change my password.

I just opened this accout a few weeks ago and thought that EBay might be selective about the password change. But it seems now they want everyone to comply. IOW, ignore at your own risk.

I don't think its selective. I changed mine on Wed and now its asking me to change my password today.

From what I can tell only passwords were encrypted, phone numbers, addresses, DOB ect were not. :(
