Podzilla

I've seen PODS containers before, but just today I saw one being delivered using their Podzilla. All-hydraulic, differential drive, twin casters (sorry, tommy tailspin), very maneuverable. The driven (non-caster) end can inchworm sideways by raising the drive wheel, resting on a sideways roller, and extending/retracting the transverse bar. Very cool to watch in action, controlled by a skilled operator like a big video game. I got a variety of ideas just watching it move, there's a robot chassis in there somewhere.

These are at marinas all over the place. They lift up to 1,000 tons. Operators drive 'em around like RC trucks. Fantastic machines. Each corner has it's own drive motor and the slings have another, all electro-hydraulic with a gas engine to drive the generator.300BFMWestport4.jpg
If I could figure out how to embed video, I could post a short one of my boat being launched...

I can't believe I spent 10 minutes watching a PODS delivery! Shows you how my day has been!

The marina hoist sound like an interesting model, 4 driven, steerable wheels.

Rick: Your day could get much worse if you see THESE pods delivered to your house:

There are several in this little burg. Here they're called "carry lifts." (That might be a brand name.) Here's one in action at the local shipyard:

I suspect Casters are involved in some evil way...

But, for the time being, we'll all just assume that the mega-yacht in the still image is yours. :)

Unfortunately, that isn't mine. I wish I could figure out how to post a video. I have a fairly close up one of my little boat being launched last year... It shows how the Travel Lift (or whatever the manufacturers name is) works.

Ok, figured it out, you have to load to YouTube first. Here's the link.
Toward the end, the guy walks into the view with the remote controller box.

How about a robotic bin which docks to a garbage truck. The robot locates trash by camera, locks in on it, dumps it into its bin and returns to the truck after several stops. I guess you could call it 'Garzilla'.

This poor chap needed a carry lift robot AND an underwater ROV robot immediately afterwards. :)
