There were two colour sensors on the webpage. One cost $49 and claimed to recognize most colours ..... and then this one for only $19. I am wondering if it could be used to follow a bright coloured ball or object around. Anyway here is what it said about it.

Overview
For sensing color, the ColorPAL uses its LED to illuminate a sample, one color component at a time, along with a broad-spectrum light-to-voltage converter to measure the light reflected back. The amount of light reflected from the sample under illumination from each red, green, and blue LED can be used to determine the samples color.
Key Features:
Detects a full range of colors, and outputs data as RGB (Red/Green/Blue) components
Detects broad-spectrum ambient light with sensitivity down to 44µW/cm2 per lsb
Plugs into servo headers (with optional cable) or wireless breadboards
Single-pin interface uses a simple serial protocol to define and initiate color detection and generation

Fortunately, the products' designer answered it for us. There's a note on the ColorPal product page overview, that says " For a full comparison of the ColorPAL to the TCS3200-DB Color Sensor, please refer to the chart in the ColorPAL documentation, below."
Here is a direct link to that document's download page; the chart is on page 4.

Yep, the ColorPAL does look like fun. Lucky for me, I get to play with one as soon as I find a spare moment, to make a lesson for it in the Propeller C - Simple Devices tutorial.
