Google Yourself and Win!

How was I to know? http://humanoidolabs.blogspot.com/2013/09/september-international-robotics-trophy.html

While playing with my new Android KitKat phone, I Googled myself this morning and found out that Humanoido had honored me on his blog with some very lofty prose. I had no idea. Some good words there about this hallowed forum as well. What's funny is that as he penned this (Sept 2013), I had just submitted my entry to Jameco's Coasterbot contest (Labor Day deadline). So I won two honors in September. It's an honor just to be nominated!

So please Google yourself and report back with your findings. You may already be a winner!

I'll defuse this potentially disasterous situation by posting this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us3dQ0nnlHY&feature=player_detailpage#t=7 .

Well, when I do Google my own name, I can find my first email account address is still tied to my name, even though I left the USA some 20 years ago.

More interesting in what I found under my grandfathers names. My father's father had published medical research articles in his name. And I found a book published by my mother's father for sale at Abe Books. I also found my mother's father had a patent granted to him.

These were all rather pleasant surprises.

I appear to have co-authored a (near 5 star) chemistry book

Bummer, I was brutally murdered too!

Mama always said bad thing would happen if you Googled yourself!

I have a somewhat unusual last name but there is also a writer, who has worked for Sports Illustrated and others, that has the same first and last name as me, so that's pretty much all I find if I Google myself. Other than some reviews of levels and maps I made for the computer games Doom and Quake many years ago, it seems I am not all that noteworthy.

Condolences, but honestly you dead guys should be ashamed of yourselves, continuing to post and getting our hopes up long after your untimely demises. How can you get up in the morning and face yourself in the mirror just knowing that you aren't alive?

The last time I counted there was something like 380 David Hein's in the US. It's been a while since I've checked on how my clones are doing. I ran into one once when I checked into a motel in Roswell, New Mexico. However, given the location, I suspect this clone was actually an extra-terrestrial.

Dang! I wish I had saved my late father's collection of A.W. LPs. They might be worth something now.

When I Google my mother's name, she is the first entry returned. It shocked me the first time I tried it. My own name is far too common to make the Google Hit Parade.

I'm working on a "Parallax forums post bot" software that will continue my work long after I'm gone. Just now the AI is not very good but I guess most people would not notice the difference :)

We can give it the topic "hub slot sharing" and then all vote on how we think your 'bot did with its responses!

Will it have simulated eyes that bleed when it hear the word "forth" in the proper (improper?) context??

Oh shoot! I just had to test your suggestion. The word "Forth" causes my bot to commit suicide. "Unhandled exception...bla, bla"
I have to work on that.

There is a rather famous Philip Pilgrim in Canada who makes audio processing equipment. He's CEO of The Lab. Here, he's pictured with two of his staff.

Other than that, lawyers, preachers, real estate agents.

When I Google my first and last name I get all my dads stuff. When I throw in my middle name, I get a bunch of pages about aviation and accomplishments that I don't have (yet). Pretty cool, thanks Google. They also cached my Rancho Santa Fe address instead of my current Vista (ugh) address which is pretty sweet too.

I don't even need to lie on my resume, Google does it for me haha.

One can always change their name to 'Jim Smith' and get lost in the crowd. Then you can deny all attributions as belonging to some other 'Jim Smith'.

Google comes up with 375 billion entries in 1/4 second.
