Momentarily outputing IOs at power-on (Propeller)

Hi,

When I power-on my board (QuickStart Propeller in Spin),
I get random outputs going into my step motor driver ICs, even if IOs are supposed to be input by default.

What is the right way to fix it with this CPU?

(Other than adding an external gate that is disabled for a moment)?

Do you have pulldown resistors to the stepper driver inputs? If not then on boot up the inputs are floating and will have noise, so you will likely see random pulses on both step and direction inputs until the code puts the pins in output mode.
