New Quickstart board won't identify

I just picked-up a new QuickStart Board (Rev A) at Radio Shack today - $20. The price was right, but after installing Propeller Tool 1.3.2 and clicking Identify Hardware, I see 'Communication Error - No Propeller chip found on any serial port, Scanned Com1-3.'

I'm running WindowsXPSP3 with all patches. The green LED is on, and I measured Vdd at a steady 3.30V. The QuickStart board is connected to a USB2 port on my desktop computer, and old Athlon XP 2500+ at 1.83 GHz. I uninstalled PropTool, rebooted and reinstalled PropTool, but I'm still seeing the same error. The blue LED flashes when I click Identify Hardware.

Any suggestions?

Make sure that you have the correct FTDI USB drivers installed...

I tried the QuickStart with another computer - still not being recognized. I also have a PropStick USB plugged into a PRC board I built a few years ago - it still works fine.

I couldn't find mention of power requirements for the QuickStart board - so I'm assuming it should be powered solely thru the USB port.

This is different from the PropStick USB, which needs to be powered with 3.3V thru the Vdd/Vss Propeller pins.

Unless anyone has other idea's - I think the QuickStart board is faulty.

That would appear to be the case. You need to contact Parallax's tech support for a resolution.
