RC Cars
Just tossing out a question and I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.
Has anyone adapted an inexpensive RC car to be operated by a BS or Propeller? I'm pretty sure it's been done but I don't "remember" seeing any posts on the subject. Of course I seldom remember the drive to work in the morning!
I've been away far too long, much to my robot's dismay. A new shiny thing! Recently got an 8 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with Dec and RA motor drives.
The night sky is awesome!!!

Edit: Here's one: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/141577-Basic-Stamp-controlled-RC-CAR
and here is some good info about using a BS2: http://www.ehow.com/list_6855722_basic-stamp-ii-projects.html
The reasoning behind the truck is they have more room under the hood. You can get them used on eBay pretty cheap. They also have a spot for a larger battery, better suspension and offer a greater area to mount external sensors.
I'd also look for something with a steering servo and ESC that they work from RC servo pulses (should have a standard three position plug). This will make things like reverse a lot easier than building your own speed controller. If you find something that you can use your already existing battery and charger for you wouldn't need to add additional expenses.
I think a Parallax employee made an award winning RoboMagellan RC truck. If you want to see what the best things to hack are, definitely Google RoboMagellan.
