Sold out Saturday

I sold my soul to an iPad. I've always flown to get away from technology, minus the panel mount stuff. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised, I used the iPad the entire trip and it added a lot of information I wouldn't normally have.

I suppose this will be the convenience factor that will suck me into eventually relying on this unreliable thing. Three years from now I'll be sure to post a thread on how it eventually let me down. In the meantime I will bask in its glory and bliss for I have sold out after years of observing.

I could see getting attached to a GPS overlay putting you directly onto the sectional pretty fast... sounds like great, convenient information!

Ah, so that was you who buzzed my house today.

I see they have you steer clear of the Naval weapons depot. Not that you can see anything from the air, anyway.

PHEW. I thought your thread's title meant that HB-25s had sold out over the weekend as I pontificated! But there are still 5 more in stock. I'll bet Parallax moved some merchandise over the weekend.

Your iPad looks like a nice upgrade, pretty much an instant "glass cockpit" at an affordable price. Nothing wrong with that!

Nothing wrong with an iPAD per se. Good for the job I guess. We have 2 one for the kiddo including Proloque for aug-com and lots of puzzles and games. Wife has one to keep on top of the other ones needs and her own uses. I stick with my main Linux box and this Surface Pro. Aside from the fact I don't fly and don't know of an equivalent app, I would always be worried about an very inappropriately timed BSOD...... seem to recall a joke about what would happen if M$ built cars.......

That looks like a valuabe addition to the cockpit.

Of course, the old curmudgeon in me is thinking, "Kids these days! What's wrong with water towers and a roadmap from Shell?"

I once had an instrument instructor that said "there are VFR, and there are IFR, and when properly rated it is ok to fly either. However, I never want to see you flying DFR." I asked what is DFR? "Down the F...ing Roads"
So, what happens now to the Jepp case?

Oddly enough, my (late) father who in his youth was a pilot was also taught in much the same fashion. The plane that he was taught to fly was an original canary yellow Piper Cub. I once saw one many years ago, and then again about six years ago, one also dressed in Army green. The Army green one of course looked better. They were keeping a (retired) B17 company. And also before that in the museum end of the (New) Piper Aircraft company.

That of course is an excellent use for a iPad by the way. And be very careful of that space near Gordon's home.............

I have a Jepp subscription through Sporty's, I only use LA TAC+sectional and San Diego TAC. I like to give my expired charts to people.

The iPad has been a lot of fun. It has proven far more reliable than my choice of batteries for my headset lol.
