An amazing recreational kit airplane with incredible visibility and power/weight ratio. I suspect a few forum members wouldn't mind taking a ride. If anyone wants to buy my Cessna 152 for $120K, I'll trade up to one of these. http://www.aircam.com/order

Beautiful airplane and great combination of performance characteristics Erco. A few years ago an Air-Cam was flown cross country all the way from Florida to the Arlington, WA fly-in where my wife and I got to look it over first hand... fantastic aircraft! Makes me want to get back in the air again.

That is extraordinarily awesome. I just started logging high performance time but I am low and slow at heart. Open cockpit aside that thing offers a lot of reasons to get close to the ground you can't find in a two place high performance twin. Do that short field in a 152 and you'll be in an accelerated stall haha.

Erco send me your N number and asking price and I can talk to Plus On Flyers about it. 152s have a high turnover rate here, people buy them and disappear or they get rented ~4hr/day hobbs. Or just fly it down and give it to me for free :)

Is that the Aerobat? 'Rode in one of those once. First pre-flight briefing from my pilot friend was how to remove the pins from the door hinges, in case an "evacuation" was necessary. The plane's owner kept ashes in the ashtray so he could detect after every flight whether any negative-G maneuvers had taken place. Yee-haaah!

Seems to have the same problem as the Cri-Cri, namely in the US you have to have a twin engine rating.

I really love the 912 except I can't afford it. Two? Need a Sugar Mama.?

This is my idea of low flying with no N number. No annuals.

Speaking of low and slow, my wife and I both learned to fly powered parachutes in the fall of 2006... what a beautiful and easy way to fly that is! Most of the control is with your feet, which leaves your hands free to photograph, etc. I have a few pictures if anyone is interested. We also were fortunate to fly some hovercraft, gyrocopter and fixed wing in the past.
  • I found a cool airplane video I wanted post but didn't want to start a new thread. I hope erco doesn't mind my piggy backing on this thread.

Those jets look like they're made for model aircraft. Pretty amazing to see two of these little things pulling an airplane into the air.

Apparently the little airplane goes a lot faster with these jets than with the original motors.

Knowingly absolutely nothing about that aircraft, I am willing to go out on a limb and bet:
    -it's not faster
-it burns 3-10 times more fuel
    -fraction of the thrust
    -horrible lag
    -significantly more dangerous
It's only cool if the jets are in service of a design goal. Therefore this is about as cool as decorating it with polka dots

This was my first guess as well but the guy mentions the speed difference at the end of the video.

I don't know what sort of motors he had on the thing previously but apparently these jets are faster. I also would be surprised if they were more efficient.

Edit: Apparent these jets are much lighter than the original motors. In one of the comments the author of the video describes his efforts in getting the center of gravity positioned correctly.

A CriCri has also been fitted with four electric motors. Here's an article on how it flies: https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2011/january/01/big-fun-in-a-small-package It's a more capable airplane than you would think. [edit: the article is about how the regular version flies, not the electric. Sorry to phrase that poorly.]

An AirCam on amphib floats would be a nice toy. Pricey, but fun.
