Propeller 1 in an 18 pin DIP

Following on from packing the prop 1 core into an "8 pin package", this is a design for getting it into a 18 pin pack.
It has the passives for VGA and TV onboard, with resultant dac output pins across the top edge.
I'm going to try Samtec male headers that have a "dog leg" in them to bring the spacing back from around .4" to .3". We'll see how that goes.

Looks good.
For ZIF programming adapter designs, I've used standard 0.1" pin strips, formed and plugged into a standard DIP socket.
On some, we used pins with longer tails, but still 'common'.
In another case, we used a mix of thru-holes and 'single sided ovals' near the PCB centre.
In your case inner 6 may be able to be single-sided, and the other 12 all thru, on 0.3" centres ?
Thanks.
Yes that "mixed" idea is interesting. Could keep it nice and narrow. However for this design bringing in the through holes in the corners would affect the number of passives that would fit
For this board we've got circles and through holes so will be able to play with a few mixed technology options. I have to admit I'm a whole lot more comfortable with the through hole but I guess it depends a bit on how many insertions / removals it has to survive.
Red, it's a fox924 oscillator that jmg suggested might be useful with P2
There are also crystals available in the same footprint but you'd need to check the specs as to whether they are suitable.
Some forumistas have also had success with "watch" shaped crystals (small cylindrical can with both leads out one end)
