Super simple step by step instructions for building a retro computer (Z80 or 6502) using one of the cheap FPGA boards available on ebay.

I must confess that I got stuck with FPGAs. I managed to build a few logic gates but I wasn't able to master dropping in a CPU core.
There must be some synergies with the propeller here - I2C, servos, all the obex code.
Time to warm up the soldering iron!

FPGA development software - Altera Quartus II 13 sp1 (Do not use newer versions - Cyclone II FPGAs are not supported with newer versions)
and Altera has Cyclone II Boards more expensive than Cyclone V
However, the general notes on HDL flows are probably useful education.
The BeMicro CV Board for Cyclone V shows 872 in stock at $34.86/+ at Verical.

This Board includes USB power, and USB Programming Pathway.
Another useful Board, is the Lattice LCMXO2-7000HE-B-EVN, for ~ $26
This allows development for smaller and cheaper Programmable Logic (single Chip, single Supply)

Oops, try Verical on this search for $34.86/1+

Unfortunately the $34 link takes me to a flash page which seems to be the whole page, and Flash stopped working for me some time ago so there's no way I can see the content (what on earth are they using Flash for there?) Anyway, no worries, that looked interesting but there'll be more options in the future I'm sure,
