This guy was calling and calling again, so I answered him and said in very polite voice, that there will be no conversation, untill he answers from where he got my phone #:
- So how you get my number?
- I've googled
- Wrong, my number can't be found via google, you know my nickname only, which is unique for ebay
- I've googled your delivery address!
- So?
- It showed up as company address (I have used this address to get goods delivered to me while at work) so I've search for company website
- Ok then?
- I've called your company and asked whenever they have ordered anything from ebay with email myname@mysite.com and girl at desk said, that this is our colleague ***** email, and was kind enough to give me your phone number
- Oh shi.......
Beer-themed web sites, brewing organizations and even "beer writers" are fond of quoting Franklin and his supposed love of beer — "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." But after recently hearing a lecture by Chicago-based brewing historian, Bob Skilnik, that convincingly asserts that Franklin was writing about rain, its nourishment of grapes, and ultimately, its conversion into wine, Stevens decided to do his part in correcting this historical inaccuracy.
"I hope that we can set the record straight about this little white lie that has been repeated for years," Stevens said in a press release. "I have no doubt that ole Ben enjoyed a tankard or two of beer with friends and associates, but this beer quote, while well-meaning, is inaccurate." The aforementioned Skilnik, author of Beer & Food - An American History, has issued a challenge to promulgators of the quote to come forward with proof, reported my colleague (and fellow beer drinker) Bryce Eddings in 2007. There have been no takers so far. For the record, here, in a letter addressed to Andr
Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine, a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy.
Beer? Wine? a bit off the topic of an abusive EBay vendor.
In any event, if one is seeking 'a constant proof that God loves us' in any mood altering substance legal or otherwise -- mild or strong, one is likely headed for trouble.
Here's what to do. The next time he calls, answer thus:
"Good afternoon. This is Detective Frank Labruzo. Who are you trying to reach?"
"Um, detective? Uhh ... I'm calling for CuriousOne. Is he there?"
"Sir, I'm sorry to inform you that CuriousOne has passed on."
"Passed on? Wha? What happened?"
"Apparent suicide. We're investigating it now. He left a note saying he was despondent over some kind of phone harassment."
Ph-phone harassment?
'Yup. Some eBay seller kept calling him until he just wigged out. Such a tragedy! Um, I didn't get your name. You wouldn't know anything about this, would you?"
The way I use Ebay is after I have checked prices on an item -
#1 Go over the listing with a fine tooth comb to determine the description of what they are trying to sell you.
#2 Look at how many items they have sold and the positive reports percentage.
#3 If I feel gullible enough I order it taking note of the expected arrival date.
#4 If the expected arrival date has past or I receive an item that is not as described I contact the seller.
#5 They only have a limited amount of time to respond and make it right before Ebay steps in automatically.
Using that method I have never had to leave a negative feedback after the transaction is done because I find most sellers care more about their ratings than they do the .99 cent item they sold you and will refund some to all of your money to keep you from leaving a bad
feedback.
I think Ebay is a very tricky place to do business. If one of the expert user's out there (erco!) has any suggestions beyond that I would like to hear them.
Edit: Ebay does not automatically step in but they make it easy for you too have them step in if you are not satisfied with the sellers response.
He calls about 20-30 times per day to our office number, abusing girl at desk, asking for feedback removal. When told that he's doing it wrong, he said that he'll continue to call until the negative feedback will be removed, and he does not care about police or whatsoever, since he's not under US Jurisdiction.
We already informed the police, ebay and phone company. They've blocked one of his numbers: 209-437-4455 (CA number). Now he calls from another: 740-836-1996 (OH Number). I guess, he uses SkypeOut or some other kind of service to rapidly get the new numbers.
This guy is 'not all there' in the head.
And he will NOT stop calling just because eBay takes down his store.
He'll just change his nags to be about retracting the complaint at eBay.
Be careful what you post about the seller. Keep a written diary of his calls. If you have to post something, make sure it's factual and documented. Avoid posting opinions or suppositions. The last thing you want is a libel suit, which is what he might be provoking you for grounds to pursue.
His ebay store says he's from Israel. He sends goods from China, he calls from U.S. phone numbers.
Regarding the calls, all our office calls are automatically recorded, so we have proof at hands.
Your problem is that if you had used the resolution center to deal with the seller before you left the feedback he would have to respond to you thru Ebay and the emails are open for you, the seller and Ebay to see.
I think if you have provided this evidence to Ebay and his store is still up then you should post the link here with a warning next to it so we can look at it. I would like to see a seller to stay away from!
Edit: It is now your word against his word. If he has sold a lot on Ebay he might have them dooped too. If this is a low value item I might order one so I can take this seller out of business.
Heater at the very least I can pretend I'm interested and ask him specific questions about his product. But I find some times that they don't respond to questions - another reason to worry about a seller.
CuriousOne, I want to believe those phone numbers are used by an evil Ebay seller, I believe you are sincere.
However, I also believe you have maybe crossed a line by posting them here... Innocent Third Parties and all that...
This is for the Police and Phone company now...

If you are going to pursue this, Please, Please, use safe baiting techniques...
This thread has long passed the point of being useful to forum members and I (and others) would like to suggest that it stop. A story has been told. Advice has been given. The story is not over, but we don't need more ongoing details, particularly since the advice was not followed. Wrap it up please.

Hmm... I don't know. Best thing to do is call eBay. I have called a few times for some basic questions and it was relatively painless.

One of them was junk and the other is months overdue for delivery.
I chalk it up to experience and do not plan to ever go back.
For $.99 you bought a 'pig-in-a-poke' and the pig turned out to be a pole cat.
Move on.

- "Beer is proof that god wants us to be happy." - Thomas Jefferson - 3rd President of the USA
Oh my God,
"Beer is proof that god wants us to be happy."
That is something I heard back in 1980's and always wondered where it came from.
More normally stated as "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."
Apparently never said by Jefferson.

Welcome to the new Global Economy!! Be careful, he may actually be living in an apartment building down the street from you!!

Situation is getting really funny.
This is not funny at all. Now he's not just annoying you he's annoying people at your work place and around you.
He also sounds crazy enough to be dangerous.
I'd be tempted to use the ebay feedback as a place to log his calls, if you can still add to that:
"This seller called ten times today asking to get this feed back removed."
"This seller called another 15 times today asking to get this feedback removed."
"This seller called another 10 times today abusing our secretary"
"..."
BUT, that is probably not a wise thing to do.
And he will NOT stop calling just because eBay takes down his store.
He'll just change his nags to be about retracting the complaint at eBay.
Is he in the USA?

Tell us who the vendor is and what it was you bought. Do be sure to mention what a fabulously good deal it was:)
Then we can all by one, 0.99 is not going to break the bank.
Now, I don't know about everyone else but I can be very good at negative feed back!
I can even make it sound almost positive! ...positively negative!
Not much else you can spend $0.99 on and have this much fun!
However, I also believe you have maybe crossed a line by posting them here... Innocent Third Parties and all that...

Hey, I'm up for a small purchase to show my appreciation for the vendor and how they do business. Very cheap entertainment at this point.

LOL. Poetic justice at it's finest.
