I also have one of these. They're really nice. You can use the vertical axis as a throttle if you want but it's optional. The spring return to center can be "turned off". If used as a throttle it will work as an airplane throttle with clicks or as a heli throttle without clicks. There are two different tension bars to choose from so either type can be used.

I thought I had a couple of nice remotes but this joystick appears better made than the ones in my nice remotes.

The pots are 5K and appear to a very common size (the same shaft size as the servo pots I've seen). If you manage to wear the pots out, they shouldn't be too hard to replace (I temporary removed one to check).

The one feature I'm not thrilled with is the end piece one grasps with their fingers. It looks (and feels) like a torture device. These can be easily modified, replaced or turned upside down (they haven't bothered me enough to do anything about them).
