This guy contacted me thru Youtube to ask some questions about beacon tracking. He scratch built this amazing R2D2 bot. Very maneuverable, plenty of lights & sound, lots of moving panels and arms. Anybody recognize the gripper claw at 0:35 into the video? :)

Artoo probably feels more at home here in Radio Shack than he does at Walmart... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l96FMKyXbL4

Could it be the Sparkfun gripper they sold at one time?

Ken wins! Yes, it looks like Sparkfun has moved on to the Mark II gripper: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11524

I still have a few Mk 1 grippers, they work OK but it's tough to find a servo that fits properly. I just superglued an HXT900 on and it works fine.

Impressive. Considering how much effort some of my tiny projects take, a project that large looks like an enormous amount of work.

Had one of the original Sparkfun grippers but was not happy with how my servos fit. Then again was just to play with servos to get something beside the horn moving.

Every journey starts with a single step.

All those impressive projects started as tiny projects...good luck with your future efforts.
