I saw the events calendar and didn't see the Expo on there and have also heard rumors of no expo this year? Any truth in that?

I can't speak for the Parallax hosted Propeller Expo, but we are still in planning mode for the Ohio Expo.

We had just enough participation to cover all the bills for the Kidron, OH event. I'm seriously considering opening the event to all varieties of microcontroller. (We a little overlap last year with some ardunios at the event, and honestly it was fun seeing what other processors were doing. We can learn a lot from each other and find new ideas that we haven't explored.)

Our local DIY Orrvile group will likely play host to the event and we'll be hosting it at the Kidon, OH location. Look for some more official on this by March. (We'll be shooting for end of August as usual)

Nothing about another Parallax Robotics Expo either? :(

Seems like robotics is on the decline. Once again, the wizards scheduling "National Robotics Week" picked the worst possible week right before income taxes are due, April 5-13, 2014. Not a single event in any state on their schedule. Do you think that bodes poorly for participation? http://www.nationalroboticsweek.org/events.php

Maybe I'll do my own Robot Expo, but y'all gotta come down to Torrance, God's Country.

I'll just have to scale up my past efforts! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lr0MkFb3da4

Our 2014 calendar has started to fill and we continue to get closer to the reality of the Propeller 2. With all of our efforts being funneled into product development and teaching teachers, we more than likely do not have the bandwidth to host an Expo this year. Should our plans change, the Forums will be the first to know!

AARRRGGGHHH. Canned reply from NRW organizer regarding the consistently bad (IMO) date:

You will note that the week is not arbitrary, but as set by Congress in a
    congressional resolution:

On March 9, 2010, the U.S. House of Representatives passed resolution H.Res. 1055, (https:
    //www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/111/hres1055/text/ih)
officially designating the second full week in April as National Robotics Week. This
resolution was submitted by U.S. Representative Mike Doyle (PA-14), co-chair of the
    Caucus, and other members.

In fact, this year, the week ends on April 13, prior to your official tax deadline.

Thankfully, most of our participants are already planning ahead and can't wait for April
    to arrive for RoboWeek!

We're a bit under pressure right now, without adding Propeller Expo. Most importantly, we don't want to distract Chip from completion at this point.

And the rest of our staff is booked:

USA Science and Engineering Festival - Washington DC
Engineering and Computer Science Department Chair Meeting - Napa, CA
International Meeting on Simulation and Healthcare - San Francisco, CA
BASIC Stamp Educator's Course - Brooklyn, NY
    Propeller Course - Ireland
    Taiwan Robot Competition - Taiwan
Placer County STEM Expo - Rocklin, CA
    TCEA - Austin, TX

All of these events happen this Spring, over the next couple of months. That's a lot of travel, hotels, eating out, weekends away from family, etc. While we love what we do, and love to share it with you, we've got limits.

Add on top of this that we're currently renovating Parallax. If you've been to our office lately you'll see that all the cubicles are gone. The office is being transformed into a giant shared workspace with more tools, tables and product development areas - a business Maker space. This won't be done until March and then we have to get settled.

As much as we'd love an Expo at Parallax this year, it's just too much for us. Maybe we can join the Ohio event run by OBC, though.
