Spin --- Serial Interface Demo - Beau please

I'm about to test my connections to the 4D Display uLCD-32PTU and will try Beau's demo program for this purpose.

What I wonder is what needs to be loaded into the display for this demo program to work?

(uLCD(SK)-32PTU display driver DEMO v2.0)

Anxiously awaiting an answer to test my connectivity :-)

Thanks in advance

Preben

    Pridbor,

There is a quick video tutorial that I put together for the uLED displays. For some reason the video keeps getting removed from the OBEX. (At least that has been my experience.) Essentially the displays need to be configured for serial communication in order to work with the OBEX demo. There are also references to other useful files within the video. Let me know if that gets you up and running.

    Thanks Beau!

I have been through most of the items I saw in the video, but my question is related to the display

Does the SPE load into Flash? if not then I have a problem as I need to remove the programming
cable to get the comm wires and power connected.

I also asked somebody id I could power the Display from the PropBOE or if I need an external supply?

And lastly :-) is there a simple program that sends the hex values required to feed the Visi Genie
    programmed widgets

Thanks again you guys are very helpful!

Here is an >>unofficial<< schematic configuration that I used during testing so that I would not have to constantly swap cables back and forth. It does require two USB ports however.

And yes, during testing I used the 5V power from a "Propeller Demo board"

One more round before I hit the road :-)

I found the following devices in my bag of things:

Diodes: 1n4004, 1n4007, and 1n914A; I was thinking of using the 1A 400x for the +5V DC, and 1n914A for the signals.

(I measured the Display current to be approx 1.6A)

    Transistors: MPSA 20 and 2N4400 both 0.2 A NPN

Would those be OK in your estimation? Don't have any 1N4148 on hand and you didn't specify the transistors

Thanks again for your support, it looks like a very slick setup, being able to use all the tools of both venors
    at the same type.

BTW does the analyzer you sell interpret the signals on the serial lines?

Transistors and diode in that circuit are general purpose... not sure about your last question, I would think so (<- I don't have one to make an affirmative test)

Beau could I please ask your help once more?

I understand all the connections from the PC USB to the display in your drawing, but how do you connect to the USB for the propeller?

I have the Propeller BOE and figure that I will have to make a breakout between the micro USB or connect to some signal pins
    on the propeller module?

As stated easily understood for the Display connectivity, and I can also see how to get the power, +5 and + 3.3 from the module, but the RES, RX and TX those I don't have any idea as how to find on the module.

Thanks and sorry for the delay, but I have been on the road the last 3 weeks

The USB to Propeller is a straight unabated and unaltered connection like you would normally connect it.

Thanks that helped me remember what I needed to do :-) I have made the circuitry on the
work area of my PropBOE and all works fine! Many thanks again.

Might I ask if you could recommend a routine to be used for sending a hex command string to the display LCD-32 PTU

I have programmed it in ViSi Genie

    Thanks

Hmmm... I just used the "Parallax Serial Terminal" within the OBEX demo. There is a function engine that makes the commands a little more "human manageable"
