It took a few minutes, but I tracked down the LCD UI I built for my column, popped it onto a Propeller Platform, and ran the original demo -- it works perfectly.
I've attached that code, which is quite old, has some non-lethal gotchas, and really should not be used for anything but a test.
Is the LCD module a 3.3 Volt friendly ? ie not a 5 Volt one.
Alan
And - does it have a contrast control?
I use a serial 2-line LCD display running from 3.3 volts although it is speced for 5.
It works fine, but I had to adjust the contrast to get it do show characters and back lighting.
Hi Jonny Mac, I was out of town and couldn't get back due to a snow storm, but here I am. I ordered and received a new 4-line LCD equivalent to HD44780. I’m going to wire it up and see if it works with your code. Stay tuned…
I’m also working on a Battery powered power supply, 0-14V @ 1Amp with current limiting, and low battery auto turn off. I just completed the circuit board I designed and I fitted it all on a 5X5 CM (50x50mm) board, and can’t wait to try it out.
I hope to modify it so that the propeller runs the whole thing, including an LCD for Volts and Current + Rotary encoders to replace the 10 turn pots.
