Yea, I am thinking the FDA may have something to say about this. I see many lawsuits in both of their futures if something like this gets released to the public.

FDA? That would be a pity.

I was thinking it might morph into 3D printing of pastry icing. You could get some really interesting wedding cakes out of a 3D printer. Try to think of it as animal crackers gone digital.

Eventually, McD's might be selling "Hello Kitty" and "SpongeBob Square Pants" burgers.

(I know, mothers have always told us not to play with our food... sigh... )

I think they already print stuff on the top of cakes, including pictures. I don't see how 3D would be any more of a problem with the FDA.

In Business, yes. The problems I see arise from average home users not being sanitary enough to comply with food production regulations.

And so is the FDA going to outlaw all cooking at home? Are farmers and gardeners not going to be allowed to eat what they produce? Are hunters and fishermen not going to be allows to eat their game?

This is 'Nanny-state' stuff. Have you ever canned a year's worth of garden produce? It is up to the individual to not poison one's self.
