    This is kind of disturbing......
The ship “was heavily damaged by the impact of a test target,” while the 13-foot drone itself “crippled a key computer center integral to the ship's cutting-edge combat systems.”

...glad it wasn't a combat situation with a REAL missile that goes BOOM! Time to relocate the computer center and the CIC just once deck up?

USS Chancellorsville is actually a Guided Missile Cruiser, the USN no longer has any commissioned Battleships. I love it when journalists do their research!

    Wow... crazy.

mindrobots - haha!! Yeah... had it been a battleship, I could only imagine how far the wreckage could have been scattered had it hit the powder room and penetrated it.

Had the headline read "Drone crashes into battleship; battleship sinks" that would have been something.

Seeing how the last laid battleship dates back 74 years now (Mighty Mo was the last completed), I'm not sure they'll be re-commissioning any of them, any time soon!

The Chancellorsville is said to be back in service now. Whatever damage was done didn't take long to fix. This stuff is always good for the San Diego economy anyway (she's one of many home ported here).

    Don't get me started...!

In years gone by, being a famous actor or performer made you an automatic expert in everything. Nowadays a journalism degree is the recognized short-cut to omniscience. ;)

My eldest daughter is a journalist and would agree wholeheartedly with the above comment. When she was studying for her degree it was continually reinforced that for 'general news' items they had to pitch to the level of a twelve year old. And that annoyed her no end.
