I can't seem to locate these on the internet yet, but I these while shopping for dog food in my local Carrefoure this evening.

Basically, it looks like a 1 to 3 120VAC adaper, but there are also two 5VDC :USB sockets present.

Is this old news, or have I stubbled across a new toy?

You get one AC outlet and two USB. Similar devices have been popping up for a while. Here's one that's a bit cleaner design (does not protrude far from the wall).

Wonder what kind of current they can supply out the USB ports? Be nice for USB powered Parallax boards.

Looks like it's been around awhile:

Some of the Amazon reviews say 1.5A across the two USB ports. Kind of wimpy for charging tablets or anything quickly. I'd want 2A per USB port

Not too shabby. Better than 500ma. :)

You can also get versions that actually replace the existing socket and wall plate for a permanent set up.

    Here is one called U-Socket:

Actually wall sockets with USB outlets. Time to consider some home rewiring projects.

The implications are that Propeller boards should accommodate a +5 source, even if they don't have a USB interface. It that way, stand alone Propeller projects can just plug into one of these sockets directly... less clutter than wall warts.

Interesting for reference, but I won't be rewiring my house any time soon. I have a drawerful for wall wart chargers with a USB port for charging. They work well and are tiny & portable. Seems like everything I buy comes with one and yet another USB mini cable.
