That's where most of us started.
Just looking at Phil's snippets won't give you any depth.
In a recent thread someone mentioned that an earlier version of the Propeller Manual (version 1.01) contains a Spin tutorial section. Google found this PDF: http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~hgk22/courses/MEM380_800/WebPM-v1.01.pdf. Chapter 3 is a tutorial section with exercises you might want to read. At least I'm getting a good initial grip of Spin from it.
All other Propeller books are like a pile of leaves saturated with doggy poo ;-)
