Another cool distraction. It never ends with this internet thing!

    Define '3D print' please...

It's quite possible to build a machine that cuts paper to the correct shape first, then lays down thin strips of glue across it, drops a new sheet of paper on top, cuts it, adds glue, drops a new sheet... and so on...

In fact, I believe at least one early 3D printer used paper and glue, except that it covered the sheet with glue, instead of the thin stripes needed for honeycombing.

Still, it's quite cool art. :-)

Echoing Gadgetman, I would actually be quite surprised to find these weren't in fact 3D printed, with the paper laser cut and the glue applied by machine. Building a machine to do that would be a dead simple extension of existing technologies. If it wasn't done with such automation then it was definitely done the hard way.

I'm guessing it was laser cut from a premade/preglued paper assembly.

Didn't we used to make paper Christmas decorations like that decades ago?

It was glued up by hand then carved to shape with an "electric saw".

Ah, so CNC mill instead of CNC printer. Same same, but different.
