open source for propeller and elev-8 copter

Hi-
I've now had some experience flying the elev-8 copter and would like to extend some of its capabilities. I'm a far better software designer than I am at flying the copter. I would also like to gain some knowledge of the Propeller CPU. Anyway, can anybody recommend a place to start. the actual board is made by Hoverfly, and as far as I can tell, their source code is proprietary.
I assume I would also need documentation regarding the radio interface and the interface to the ESC's.
