I prefer 1600x1200 but applications and web content are using a lot more horizontal space these days.

For a New Year resolution, I will be taking up Paragliding! I have everything I need to build a Prop Variometer too.

My New Year's resolution is to bug Erco more. I've really let that slide.

I have a New Rear's resolution, too, and that involves eating fewer Milky Ways.

    Excellent!!

I'm doing P2 at Torrey Pines then moving on to PPG XC. I just quit my GA flight club, and soon I'll own my own aircraft(wing)! I feel like I'm always the last person to figure this stuff out lol. All those dreams of flying can't come true in an airplane, it need's to be just you, a wing and the wind. That's flying!

Gordon, you and I gotta get together for a brewski sometime in 2014! I'll be in Carlsbad on Jan 19...

I'm going to continue keeping one I made several years ago. No more New Year resolutions. It's the only one I've managed to keep for more than a few days.

I just use it because it's an easy date to remember when I start something.

I'll be here. PM me whenever you're down. Remember we've got LEGO Land here, too. Your girls are just about the perfect age for it now.

I can only imagine how great Torrey Pines would be to get your P2! The first time a cloth wing silently and effortlessly picked me off the ground (at POTM in my case) was pure magic! Never felt anything like that in a spam can.

The Baja coast is a fabulous place for PPG XC and you're so close to it! Skim the ocean and the dolphins will sometimes jump up, practically in your lap. There are endless beachlets where you can land. Climb a few stairs and you're in a restaurant with great food and great ambiance.

I took the wife paragliding at Torrey Pines a few birthdays ago, and she loved it. I had an Eipperformance 16" Rogallo kite way back in the 70's. Best $140 I ever spent of my paper route money. It was a used trainer bought at auction from Kitty Hawk Kites in NC. Big fun, just used on the dunes. Nothing too dangerous.

Spam can, huh? :) I have Cessna 152/U that I really need to sell since I never fly it. Full IFR. Make me an offer, xanadu!

I was about to post a resolution to make my 11,000th post in 2014, I knew it was approaching. But then I checked and realized that ship sailed today. DOH!

Nice! Have you heard of Plus One Flyers? If you drop if off at KCRQ they will take real good care of it and being IFR it will get a lot of use.

This is the best Torrey Pines video I've found. Someone has a tame hawk named Shanti. I hope that I get to fly with the hawk, that accounts for at least 30% of why I'm doing this lol.

Thanks. Mine was a rental plane when I bought it, and it was very popular (IFR) on leaseback with the flight school for many years. But now it's a senior plane with 400 hours before overhaul, so it would get used up pretty quickly on leaseback. I'm looking for the right guy to buy it who needs hours and will baby it.

First $18K takes. Won't last! Tell your friends! :)

I resolve not to be so dismissive of the Forth language and other such lowly life forms.

    Damn, blew it already:)

You didn't necessarily blow it already. You called Forth a "life form". That's got to be better than C! Well, I guess you didn't say it was an "intelligent life form"...

You guys parasailing in Torrey Pines ... it's really just a ruse to fly over north Black's Beach, isn't it.

    David,

Ha ha, according to Laurie Anderson, "Language is a virus". So we can say all programming languages are a life form.

Certainly I am infected with a few of them whilst having built up a resistance to many others:)

I resolve two points 1/2 lambda apart. No seriously, keeping the electronics workbench tidy is one of my resolutions,
documenting projects more, and most importantly finishing the awesome ones!

I have a list that I have been carrying over for a few years, LOL, in no particular order:

Finish the Propeller Based Wireless Wrestling Timer Scoreboard Setup
Finish designing V2 of my M44D40+ module that adds micro SD and linear regulators. Will still be $17 without headers.
Finish making the rest of my SHT11 and SHT15 modules. I have about 30 of each version sensor leftover from a giant order that just need to be built up so they can be sold to buy Prop chips for my M44D40+ V2.
Clean up my bench and organize it enough so I can use it, LOL.
    Learn C

    Nothing.

I need a rest. This year I am going to do absolutely nothing. As much nothing as I can get away with. I will do anything as long as it feels like doing nothing, You know, like playing when you are a kid. Playing hard can take all your time and energy without actually having to "do" anything.

I'm going to start by cancelling all those unfinished hobby projects that one always thinks one will get around to some time when there is enough time, may be, bla bla.
Bah, forget it, clear the slate, delete the kanban, all cancelled, done with.

    OK. What's next?

I remember as a teenager in Carlsbad listening to KGB in San Deigo. They had a local group that had a song for Black's beach - "Black's beach you don't need no button's or bows"!

    1) I resolve not to para-sail from Torrey Pines over Black's beach. OK, that's one i CAN keep!

    2) 2014 The year of Robotics. I resolve to focus more on Robotics and not get distracted as much with non-robotic stuff. I understand that's easy to say, harder to do since robotics embraces so many disciplines but I have a tendency to get way too distracted by way too many things.

So it's "Robots First" in 2014!!

Time to break out an S2 and spend some quality time with an old friend! ...or maybe that ActivityBot ...or the SumoBot awaiting a Propeller brain transplant...or the Arduino ShieldBot using an ASC+ card ...or there's that envelope of sensors I got from Erco... DANG IT!!

Resolved - I will not date any movie stars no matter how much they beg. - - - I will not drink any more and will try to drink a little less. - - - I am confident this will be another banner year for keeping my resolutions.
