FPGA?

Didn't Parallax at one time sell a FPGA game development kit? Not that I need one or want one, but I seem to remember this item.

Best,

Joe

Around 2006 we sold FPGA boards for the Stratix and Cyclone from Altera. They were not game development kits, however.

    Kotobuki

FPGA's started appearing in the 2004 Catalog.

I was going to put up the catalog, but it is too large. (20 Mb).

Propeller Game Development Systems are no longer sold on the Parallax site, but are available at:

I was going to point out that Andre' LaMothe has a CPLD development kit (the Mach64) available on xgamestation.com. I think it has game applications.

    Thanks for that David.

I did not know he had the kit:

Thank you for the replies. I just thought that I remembered it and was curious. I know nothing about programming FPGAs, and what with starting to learn Propeller, I do not need anything else on my plate.

I cannot believe that it has been that long ago. I sorta dropped Basic Stamps once I got into 8085 programming, but now I have returned (like a bad dream, I guess) as I have gotten into robots.

    Bet,

    Joe

A lower cost, and with much more logic, alternative would be the Lattice LCMXO2-7000HE-B-EVN

Yeah, there are lots of better choices now. The Mach64 requires a parallel port to program it and I don't think any modern machines come with them anymore. I bought a Mach64 kit a while back and played with it a bit but I no longer have a machine with a parallel port setup so it's just sitting in a box on my shelf now.

The Lattice Breakout EVN's all include a USB FT2232H, one channel used for JTAG ISP, and the other channel for user UART

My only peeve with MachXO2 parts, is Lattice forgot to do 44/48 pin versions!!.
They have 25 & 32 pin ones, but then jump to 100 pins if you want non-BGA.

I now have a few FPGA boards including the ones used for Propeller 2 development so I'd probably just use one of those if I wanted to play with programmable logic. I also have a tiny FPGA board called the XuLA that seems like it would be fun to play with.

That's cute, and the SDRAM makes it useful for larger-data apps.
I see they have a new version

and a larger one again, that could maybe fit a P2 (were Chip to ever do a Xilinx Build )
