What's the best Parallax offering to learn the Propeller?

When does it become necessary to use the proppellor for a robot. I am planning on making a robot with 5 servos. Is this possible with the basic stamp or would i really need a proppellor. not to forget the emic 2 module as well and somehow control the robot via wifi
