Velocity Ripple using resolver vs encoder

Hey Guys,
I'm doing some initial testing on a new servo setup and after doing some initial tuning I'm seeing about +/- 30 rpm velocity ripple when trying to run a constant 5,000 rpm. I'm using a Parker servo motor with resolver.
Question 1) Am I nuts thinking that I should be able to get less fluctuation in velocity with this servo/resolver setup? I guess a better question is, What should I be able to expect to acheive as far as velocity ripple with this setup and adequate tuning?
Question 2) What can I expect from a servo with an encoder rather than a resolver?
I dont need any real technical answers, I just want to know what I should be able to expect in a general sense.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
