Help with Ping sensor

Hi,
I recently bought a Ping sensor for a robotics project I am working on. I am using it with an Arduino Uno board and a motor shield. When I have the ping sensor connected and use the sample code you have posted (only line of code I edited was for the pin), the sensor only reads 122 constantly. Do I have something wired wrong or is it a defective sensor? I have included the program I ran and a wiring diagram.

Thanks,
Mike

A reading of 122 is about the limit for distance for the PING. The controller on the PING times out at that distance, so either the PING isn't transmitting a sound pulse or it isn't receiving one. You may have a defective PING. Call Parallax Tech Support.
