As the titles says, I need to purchase 22 different color combinations of wire, but I can't afford 500ft reels right now. I am hoping to locate at least 20 difference colors, but 22 would be best. Any suggestions?

It says their minimum is 250ft which is $20 per 250ft spools :( This would be $400 for 20 different colors which is WAY above what I can afford right now.

I suspect that your best bet is a local wire supplier that sells cables by the foot or the yard. If they have an 18awg cable with 22 or 25 colored wires, just buy it to the length required and DIY the stripping to suit yourself.

I often buy a hunk of such cable locally to provide me a yard or so of diverse color selections. I then strip off the outer covering and use the individual wires on projects as required. Much better than buying 100 feet of 25 colors and nevery using most of the stuff.

You might be able to salvage an old Centronics paralled printer cable purchased from E-Bay if you can't find something local. Just cut the ends off and use the cable itself.

    Stranded or single core?

And do they really need to be 22 colours?

Best I can find is 10 colours:

(There are some selling 11 colours, too, but I couldn't find any selling 18 awg)

Stranded and yeah, I need 22 different colors. Stripes on some are preferred since I can "pair" up some for the same sensor.

Depending upon whether you actually need 50 feet or just the different colors.....

If all you are seeking is different colors/striped, then perhaps an automotive wiring harness might be a source. If 50 feet is an actual requirement, then perhaps an airplane salvage yard may have what you need.

If they are for sensors do you really need 18ga.?

Also I assume this is for an automotive enviroment, do you need gas and oil proof insulation?

These will be inside the vehicle and will not come in contact with oil, or extreme heat. I was thinking of going to my local junk yard and snagging a few ECU harnesses just for testing purposes, but I can't be selling "used" wire with a brand new product. This is why I am hoping to just get 50 feet or so. I plan on using 1ft pieces from each color and connecting them to the Molex connector. 18ga is not necessary for all the wires, but they can handle all the current I need plus the molex crimps I bought are for 22 to 18. I would rather go with the larger gauge since the plugs seem to look and hold better with the larger sized wire.

I can buy stranded 25 twisted pair cable over-the-counter here in Taiwan, but it is 26awg. You might have to reconsider your crimping objectives if you need that many colors AND twisted pairs.

Jameco has 25 conductor cables, not twisted pair in lesser lengths (like 25 feet and 100 feet), but 24awg.
