GPS and rare earth magnets

I am planning to use rare earth magnets to mount a propeller based GPS setup on my kayak. I am wondering if the magnets are likely to cause problems with the GPS sensor?

The magnets will be around 5cm below the GPS sensor.

The GPS receivers do not use magnetic fields to determine location. They receive RF signals from satellites so having a magnet nearby should not be a problem.

Although, Andrew2010 is "down under" in Sydney, where everything happens backwards relative to what we think is "normal" in our Northern hemisphere. For all we know, a strong magnet near a GPS receiver may trigger a wormhole or other cataclysmic event.

    Godspeed, Andrew2010! :)
