Troubleshooting Propeller Demo Board on Windows 8.1

I am trying to get my new parallax working and I continue to get errors when trying to "Identify Hardware", or program the board using propeller tool and SimpleIDE. It says "No Propeller Chip Found"

I tried using the drivers from this website (Version 2.8.24), along with the newest version (2.8.30) from that ftdichip.com. Neither of them worked. I also tried setting the Latency Timer to 1ms in both cases.

I see a light flash every time that I try to connect to it, but I have had no luck.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

How are you powering the Demo Board? Have you tried another USB cable? Those are the most common problems with this sort of thing. I've not had any problems with Windows 8.0 and the Demo Board. Don't have Windows 8.1 yet.

I am powering it using the USB cable that came in the starter kit. I will try a different cable and maybe see about hooking up the barrel jack if that doesn't work.

The demo board cannot be powered off of USB. It needs a power source.

I just figured that out. Thanks!

I just wanted to confirm that the drivers work fine in windows 8.1
