AGVs Takes Breaks
I always heard that "robots never get tired, robots never need breaks, or days off..."
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automated_guided_vehicle#Automatic_.2F_Opportunity_Charging :
On average an AGV charges for 12 minutes every hour for automatic charging and no manual intervention is required.
That's one-fifth of it's time sitting on the charger. Doesn't seem any better than Lenny and Moe after their lunch, smoking, and potty breaks.
I guess one difference is that:
When a battery pack gets to a predetermined level the AGV will finish the current job that it has been assigned before it goes to the charging station.
Whereas Lenny & Moe drop their wrenches when the lunch bell rings.

That's for bots wired into the mains. I bet Lenny and Moe are not wired into the mains, nor do they run on batteries. Although that's an intriguing idea...
