There is mention of a board schematic but I am unable to find it.

Edit: Ah, just found mention of "595 object" for this.

"595" object? I suspect you are not looking for a board at all, but a 74594 shift register. This chip has been used since the early days of Parallax to increase i/o.

I note that Parallax don't have a schematic download for the I/O board as they do with other products and the only sample code they provide is for the Stamp. It was only after I posted that the "Similar Treads" list has someone asking about Spin code for this board and he was pointed to the "595" object.

    Cheers!

I will have the web page issues corrected in a little while. Making notes of some missing information from the switch to the new website and will get them all updated at once. Thanks for letting us know.

    Loopy,

The 74595 is the shift register on this board, the "595" object works loverly with the board.

Apologies, I have not been keeping up with all the new boards that Parallax has produced.. There is a Digital i/o Board. Still, it seems the 74595 chip is what is attached to the board.

With the change over to a new web site, and my personal focus shifted to Forth on the Propeller, I haven't had my hands full.

Plus I've had a few outside projects, such as USA Income Tax regulations for publicly trade limited partners. That topic has eaten a couple of months of study this year. Reading tax code may be harder than computer code.

The Parallax Digital I/O Board has both a 74HC165 and a 74HC595 that you can use instead of the parallel interface to save on I/O pins. Any object that uses these ICs can be used on the board, which is why there is no custom object. If there is interest I can create an object that handles both shift registers at once with a simple call handling 8-bits in or out.
