My wife commented on them that they're "cool" and make good art exhibits, but for being practical she commented that if I asked her the time and we had the first one, her answer would probably be, "I don't know! Your clock isn't done making up it's mind yet!"
What bugs me is that many of these "cool clocks" are no such thing. The are mostly cool displays of regular time keeping technologies.
My Nixie clock really was cool. I built it before there were such things as digital clocks on the market. But even that was just a fancy counter chain and display counting cycles of mains power.
