So why do wie need an additional irc based propeller chat instead of populating the existing one?
And why is the propellerpowered chat expected not to fall idle after a short hype in the beginning?
But kudos to OBC for running a propeller focused chat https://qwebirc.afternet.org/?channels=tymkrs
Ouch! Sorry about that. Propellerpowered chat isn't intended as a replacement for anything that is currently running.
There is a small group of us who live reasonably nearby to each other who met at the UPENE shows and as a result have become friends thanks to the Propeller as well as several other common intrests like old electronics, programming, and old computers. Currently we are meeting online in a sort of "mini expo" fashion for a couple hours on Saturday night, as well a doing small regional get togethers about every three months. THIS is what propellerpowered chat is, and certainly that after hosting an established forum for the last two years (First as a subforum at Savage Circuits & Gadget Gangster, then onto it's domain), six years of expos, and then having just survived the first year as a business, I don't think that it's fair criticism to expect us to "fall idle after a short hype."
Again, Propellerpowered chat night wasn't designed to step on toes and I apologize if that has happened. We're a group of friends who thought it was a good idea to shoot the breeze about Propeller (and whatever else we get stuck on) once a week to encourage each other to continue projects, etc. We're just not a closed group and welcome others who want to join us.

I do not like to see the community split into too small chunks...
...maybe giving up #propeller on freenode is the right answer. Killing the pointer to it in http://propeller.wikispaces.com/Join+us+on+IRC! would stop it from looking like being THE propeller chat...
...maybe adding a comment that this chat is statically idle and mentioning all the other ones there would be a good thing?
...maybe some of my words looked harsh or something like that because english not being my native tounge. It definitely was not meant to sound that way!
