Disabling Reset Button, PropStick USB

G'day,

Need to disable the reset button of a propstick USB without desoldering the button. To do this, would a decent approach be to solder the RESn pin of the propstick up to 3.3v?

Thanks,

John

You will need to cut the track to the RESn pin first. If you don't and you press the button you will cause a dead short.

    G'day,

Thanks for this. Unfortunatly this is out of the question - any other suggestions? The problem is I have a circuit board just above the reset pin, and although the chances of it pressing it are minimal, I'd rather not take chances. I'll figure out a "mechanical" way to solve this problem.

    Thanks!

    John,
By far the best way to handle this is to remove the reset button. Not sure why you can't do that ?
If you can't for some reason desolder it, you may be able to cut it off.

    G'day,

I'm probably able, it's more of a case of not wanting to! It's a minor issue, I was just wondering if there was a quick fix that I could easily solder in, as there is not, what I'm thining of doing is putting a small rectangular brace of antistatic foam around the button, this will take 2 minutes to make, and will prevent things from pressing the button.

    Thanks again for the help!

If the button sticks up enough, you may be able to cut the button off with a pair of cutters ???

    G'day,

Yeah, got that the first time, it's just that I don't want to cut off the button, might want it in the future! Thanks again for all your help though!

Fro the pictures i can't tell how much the plastic bit sticks up. You might find something simular in design that has much less sticking up. Something flush that required a poking stick would prevent all but intentional resets.

I usually stick a jumper link (and another pull-up)in there, on my homemade stuff.

What about covering the button in a big blob of hot glue? That would prevent things from bumping into it and causing a reset while not being too permanent.
