This is an interesting 3D printer created by Quentin Harley which won the Gada Prize:

What's nice about this design is that it only requires one set of smooth rods and linear bearings, so a greater percentage of the printer's parts are printable. An interesting tidbit is that the scara arm changes its elevation above the print surface slightly at different points in the arm's extension, so the firmware compensates by raising and lowering the print surface to adjust for the arm flex.
