I need to know about RAID(Redundant Array of Independent disk) concept. And also suggest how to use this RAID in windows XP?And what is the application? Please answer this question..
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID for an explanation of the concept and the various levels. To use it with XP you need a software raid driver and the ability to connect at least 2 hard drives to the motherboard, or a raid controller board, and of course you need the drives for either the software driver or the hardware controller board.
Thank you.I accept your points. But the purpose of RAID is increase the disk performance,so the RAID needs two Hard disk am right?
That's one purpose. You should read the wiki article. Look on Tom's Hardware, Anandtech, and Ars technica. There's a lot to this, it takes some preparation to get up to speed.
If you use a RAID controller use the software that comes with it. Absolute best option. I have seen many a software RAIDS totally fail. Plus, If you are looking for the best performance you will not achieve this through software alone. Adaptec RAID cards are very good quality. Although more expensive, I would go with 2 or more SAS drives as opposed to SATA.
