Register by July 31: just send an email to challenges@jameco.com

Make a robot using a coaster or CD as the main body/chassis (wheels?) Any processor.

Submit video by Aug 31

Collect prize, await fame & fortune.

Simple, right? I just registered with a purposely vague description. Nothing built or planned yet. Maybe a walker, dunno.

Your turn! Martin_H? Whit? Duane? Rich? Amanda? Gordon? Who will rise to the occasion? Registering is a quick & painless first step.

IIRC, Andy (WBA) made a robot out of a bulk CD case already. He should submit that instantly if he hasn't already!

    Andy?

I'm wondering if any or all of us should just slap a CD (yes, bonus points for vintage AOL CDs) onto our existing robots and win the dang contest.

How many CDs would it take to cover a Scribbler? Or use CDs as wheels on a BoeBot?

Ahhhh, it was Robert, not Andrew who made the Spindlebot which I was recalling in post #2. A nice bot out of a CD case. Robert, or any other takers?

LOL, good one. I think I finally got rid of the last of them during my previous clean and toss session.

    No takers, huh?

I guess it's all up to me...

Come on erco, step up to the plate. How about using CD's as the chassis and the wheels. Motors and batteries mounted under the chassis CD, That round "Pizza slice" board from a long ago post as the controller mounted on top, and half (or 3/4 ) of a CD as a rudder style tail. Would certainly be unique.

Sounds like you've got it all figured out... so build it, kwinn! :)

Not really my area of interest or expertise, and I don't have much spare time at present. You seemed interested so I thought I would encourage you with a few ideas.

What has begun cannot be undone...

Unless the CD disk itself breaks during construction and testing. What a crappy, brittle, crack-prone material that is. It drills better than it punches, if anyone cares...
