I think there's a set of holes next to those for the PropPlug that are intended for this use. The USB2SER adapter has a different pin order than the PropPlug. Look in the ProtoBoard documentation for details.

The USBto232 is intended for devices like the Scribbler that have a RS-232 connection. The RS-232 levels aren't directly compatible with the Prop.
There is a schematic in the Propeller datasheet showing how to connect the Prop to a RS-232 interface. IIRC the circuit uses a couple of transistors to convert the logic voltage.
That's what I'm using now, It's 3 transistors 1 cap and a bunch of resistors and I think there's another one with just 2 transistors, I wonder what the difference was. Thanks y'all
