    each one in its own quart or gallon sized ziplock bag
    Careful with this idea. Although a great one, if you live in a humid area you do not want to seal the bag completely. Otherwise you will end up with moisture inside of the cables.

    I have TONS of excess cable. What I do is use stiff cardboard, cut a piece 18"x4" or so, cut a V on both sides and wrap the cable up on that. For larger pieces I use the cable reels that my RG-59 cable comes on.

    Thanks for the tip, I'll poke a hole in each bag.

    The kids have started driving and so the shed is going to have cars in it, which means I need to move out. I'm moving the electronics lab to a log cabin (see below - screenshot from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIO-Log-Cabin-5-x-4m-Summer-House-Garden-Shed-Storage/290951592572?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D274072832074825229%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D290934493587%26) and inside that is going to be some wooden Ikea shelving (my wife likes putting this together), and on that will be all the parts drawers. Cabin is almost finished - just needs the outside deck done. It is in amongst a little forest of trees which I hope will promote harmony and help decrease the number of dry solder joints, bent pins and ferric chloride stains to underwear etc.

    Ultimate electronics nirvana - the ability to build a typical propeller board with everything within arms reach and without having to get out of the chair *grin*.

    Wow, that is a very, very nice setup. That kind of environment should be a very relaxing retreat. I should have seized the opportunity when my kids started driving - darn! :).

    When my kids started driving there cars went where mine is. The driveway!!! Garage is only 2/3rds of a garage as 1/3rd is my office. Garage is cramped and so is office!!! Every year I go to the fair and see the pre fabbed sheds that are on display. Not as nice as the cabin but some of them would make great additional unattached office/shop space. I have yet to convince the wife that I "really" need one. Besides, she knows if I really wanted one I could build it but permits kill a guy around here. Does anyone know if permits are required in WA. State to set up a prefabbed shed? I know if I run power that needs a permit but not sure about the pre fab part,

    I've said it before, so I'll say it again:

    Stratigraphic organization systems preclude cleaning of any kind and provide historical contextual information that would otherwise be lost to future archeologists.

    Drac: Nice cabin. Thanks for the heads up - I'll keep away from driving in SA for a few years ;)
    My kids are past that stage, so now I have grandkids to play with - last one gets married next week.

    King county allows up to a 200 sq ft shed without needing a permit. Anything that has power will need an electrical permit though. http://www.kingcounty.gov/property/permits/FAQ/PermitReq.aspx

    Here is a 196 sq ft "shed" that I am hoping to build, someday;

    Thanks Rich. I might have to put that on my To Do list. I guess if I keep it close enough to the house I could just use extension cords for power!!! And maybe even run a duct for heating to it, underground, of course!!

    I use a variety of things for storing projects/parts. For the big stuff there's the Craftsman 4 drawer chest with a 3 drawer toolbox on top. For smaller items I have a number of different sized polyethylene boxes similar to the PE Kit box. I also find recycled peanut butter jars quite handy for nuts, bolts, brackets, hinges and the occasional frammis. Then... being old and decrepit, I have dozens of amber pill bottles from treating my various aches and pains. (Child proof tops! Why they hardly slow me down. :lol: ) Lastly, the storage space that, sadly, gets used far more than it should... the floor beside my desk! <sigh>
