For my tastes that's six servos wasting time and effort on animation rather than doing interesting tasks. But all the robots I build look like circuit boards on wheels, and their tasks only seem interesting to robotics enthusiasts.

Maybe.... printing the critical linkages, and making all the rest out of cardboard and found objects?

I would spend $600 on servos and two RPi + camera rig, and make it recognize the individual kids' faces, and say hello.

In fact, this is going on the list...
