AX-12 would not be a good example, "robotic arm" would narrow the field, but the AX-12 shows up. However if I search "robotics", a keyword in the company name..... I stopped looking after 10 pages

Edit: Actually "robotics" is not part of the company, but it is shown as such on the web pages

For those folks who want to hold onto their hard earned cash $$$$.... As of a few minutes ago, I have decided to add the following directories:
    • Scrolleeze Coupons Directory
    • Scrolleeze Rebates Directory
The addition of these two directories should add a little more appeal to the site and directories. I will let you know when they are up and running.

To gather the links and assemble the pages.... I would imagine these pages should be available by tommorow evening sometime.

While working on this site and over the last couple of weeks, I decided to limit the authorization of cookie installation to several of the sites that I frequently visit and trust, which of course blocked cookies from all other sites. I am amazed at just how many websites base their code upon cookie installation. I would estimate that approximately 60% of all websites base their code upon cookie installation. If a cookie is not allowed or it is blocked from a specific domain, the execution of the remaining code stops dead in it's track, resulting in a failure to load the requested webpage and locking the browser.

A simple condition (if else) could redirect browsers not accepting cookies to a simple page which states that cookies are required for the site, instead of faltering and locking the browser.

EDIT: Perhaps 60% is a little high, but there is a lot of failings.

I did not get around to working on those last mentioned directories, but there is some new software on the site for Windows users. At the bottom of every directory, an image link is provided for the Scrolleeze system tray software. Upon installation, this program is stored in the Startup folder and then executed, at which point it justs sits quietly in the system tray until you click it with your mouse. If you left click it, it takes you directly to the Scrolleeze homepage, and if you right click it, a popup menu appears with the option to go to the Scrolleeze homepage, uninstall the Scrolleeze software, or exit the execution process.

One click and you are at Scrolleeze. Click 'N Go.

Edit: Please note that this software has only been tested on XP for the moment. I will test Vista, 7, & 8 tomorrow.
Edit:The "uninstall" does not work in Windows 7 I will have to remove this software until it is compatible with all windows versions XP + up

    Bruce,

your site is a cool idea. Two layout suggestions : home page, info scroll boxes should be a tick bigger ( you could make the 'directory of directories' a two column list to give you more screen real estate); 2) Nix the purple background - although 'pretty' it's irritating (to my eyes at least) ... since it's a "Scroll of Scrolls" why not use a papyrus bg similar to the patent images? E.g. make the whole page slightly darker so the patent image stands out. If you really love that purple :)) then perhaps keep it for the nav. buttons and borders.

    cheers

Thanks Howard, I am glad you like it.

There are many different routes I could have gone, as far as layout and execution is concerned, but I chose a single table layout based upon a monitor size of 1152 X 864. Based upon this monitor size, I am able to adequately display what I feel is most important. If users with larger monitors view the site, there will be some extra space, and for users with smaller monitors, well they may have to scroll a little to get the full picture, but for users with an 1152 X 864 monitor, the table spacing is just adequate.

Additionally, the width of the menu button table cell was chosen to accomodate common 120 X 60, 120 X 90, 120 X 240 advertisements. Whereas the width of the scrolling menus table cell was chosen to accomodate a common 468 X 60 full banner advertisement. For common size advertisements please refer to this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Standard_web_banner_ad_sizes.svg

In other words, there is rhyme and reason behind practically every pixel of layout based upon a monitor having a resolution of 1152 X 864.

Edit: And as far as height goes, well that is an entirely different matter, that is all based button, form, and image spacing.

I have been following this thread with ever increasing amazement. I cannot find a diplomatic or polite way to say this so I just have to say it as I see it:

Basically I don't get the idea of the new web site:

On the one hand we have "Come to my web site I have some pictures to sell you". Normally this is called "spam" and the moderators delete it ASAP.

On the other hand we have "Come to my web site I have cataloged all my bookmarks there."

Why? I already have 20 years worth of book marks. A long time ago I found that if I remember anything at all about what I want I can find it with the help of Google much quicker than scouring my bookmarks. Plus of course links go dead very fast so 99% of my book marks don't work anymore.

If I want to following something new, for sure you do not have it.

On top of that. None of this is Parallax related so it just adds noise to the forum.

I'm still trying to find any monitor on any of my computers that is the optimized 1152x864 resolution. Mine are all bigger except maybe for the netbooks but I have browser windows of all different shapes and sizes. Most of the websites I have open seem to resize dynamically based on the window size they are given to use(down to a minimum at which point, I get scroll bars).

Heater just go ahead and say that you don't like me... I am just sharing something that I have worked very hard on, and you just have to try and tear me down, as well as a few others..... I am so sick of the same old bs... You could not find something nice to say.... I have read an awful lot of things in this forum that has nothing to do with Parallax or electronics, but you have to pick on me.... The lilly white heater

Most of those things are curios, not help establishing a revenue stream. Now personally, I don't mind a friend of Parallax, coming here to ask for some advice. Said advice was freely given, and with good intentions too.

I too asked, "what is the point?", and it appears to me to sell patent print reproductions. Personally, I don't mind having a brief discussion about that as my posts show. Ongoing, "hey, I added something minor" is noisy IMHO, particularly given the "thanks, but I got this" response to commentary intended to be helpful. Selling something along side something of value is perfectly ordinary, let me be clear on that. No worries, but I do consider the frequent and minor updates an AD more than I do some meaningful dialog on the project due to how the help was received.

@Bruce, you make it hard buddy. Really. It is hard because you appear to labor intensely and want recognition for that, but when it comes to dialog on ways, means, methods, etc... --dialog you often initiate mind you, the pushback on that from you is difficult. Maybe it's just me, but when I ask for help, or ideas, etc... and somebody else tosses in things that can improve things, add to my understanding, or whatever, that's great! Thanks, and maybe I can return the favor. I get the distinct feeling this is painful for you, and that makes the whole thing seem futile, like watching a train wreck in slo-mo or something.

Doesn't have to be that way you know. Really, it just doesn't.

No, I won't. I cannot like you or not like you. I don't know you from Adam. In fact I have been following you discussions here over time with interest.

Sorry, I am cursed with being born in the sun free England.

Now, down to practicalities. Assuming the link directory thing is actually interesting and useful, are you prepared to keep it up to date for ever?

By the way. The patent print idea itself is quite cool. It deserves its own site and wrapping in some "buy me, buy me" love.

    potatohead

It is clear to me that I have made some enemies here, because they just won't leave me alone and never have anything good to say. In all honesty, I feel hrassed by these people, because they always come back to dish me out some more of their stuff. They are allowed to keep tearing at me until I lose my cool and then I am always the one that is penalized. In all honesty, I thought it was against the site policy to stalk and harass. I never follow these people, but yet they always come back to me, to say something negative.

I appreciate input and advice if I am seeking it, and then there are times when I get good advice when I am not seeking it. However for Heater to basically come in and say it is a pile of dung and just wasting server space.... Well he must be the Supreme leader

No, this is something you are manufacturing.

Did you read Heater's comment? It's the same as mine and a few others. Get out there and sell the prints Bruce! Nobody thinks badly of that. As for the rest, again it's just rather painful. Do you honestly expect to drop something here and not get rational commentary about it? Why appear so determined and put off when that happens? Others here know stuff and will share it. That's the point! No shame in not knowing stuff either. It is why we do this.

Great resource here that you clearly want to tap into, but then you come off as hurt when said resource delivers. Strange, and it does not have to be that way. Really.

To lighten things up I'll tell you why I like the patent print idea...

In the mid 1970's when I was 14 or 15 years old I stumbled into the patent office in London. Just out of curiosity. It was a magnificent building, Like a huge Victorian library. Shelves and shelves of patents bound in green hardback volumes. I walked around a bit admiring the splendor of the place and then decided to have a look at a patent. At random I selected one volume and opened it near the middle. Shock, what, there was a full page technical drawing of a young woman's breasts!!! Well, of course it was a patent for some part of a bra. All fun and giggles for a guy my age.

But that means...there are millions of interesting diagrams of famous and not so famous things in those pages.

    To lighten things up....

I was going to post one of the prints that I find most amusing, but at the moment, I am unable to find a digital or a hard copy....

    Bums me out....

I will look a little more...

I think I only had (1) hard copy, but of course that was the Pat# I need

No need to lighten things up, we simply lost focus.

Bruce, it seems to have been your intent to announce your new website in your first post to this thread, and therein your mission was immediately accomplished. As you said, there is “still a lot more to be done”, so continue on! Git 'r done! I wish you well with this venture. Will you please consider adding a final post to close this thread.

If down the road you get stuck and would like help with various aspects of website design, there might be less need to lighten things up if you start a thread that deals with a single issue instead of opening the door to discuss the infinite number of details required to make a million dollar website.

Thanks for sharing your efforts with us.
