Actually, there's one less summer project to do since I found this: http://www.amazon.com/Contech-CRO101-Scarecrow-Activated-Sprinkler/dp/B000071NUS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372677935&sr=8-1&keywords=scarecrow+water+sprinkler. Should keep the critters out of the wife's garden.

For just $50, might also be effective to keep neighbor's dogs from pooping in your yard!

I wonder how long that 9V battery lasts...

Maybe it's time for me to buy some stock in a company that manufactures 9V batteries ;-)

I am creating a DMX controlled giant (1200mm x 600mm) 3 digit 7-segment scoreboard for our next show. As they 'scoreboard' only has to display up to the maximum number of seats in the house (in our case 230) I only need two dmx channels - one for the no. of seats and one to dim it.

A Prop reads the DMX stream from the console and parse channels 98 and 99. It then spits the data out on a new DMX universe to a 27 channel LED dimmer, of which I use 21 channels, one for each segment. Mock up works great so just waiting for LED strip to arrive and for the stage carpebter to build the display case.

    Something a bit different.

Also converting an AVR project (from DIYXmas) that emulates an ENTTEC DMX Pro to Prop in my spare time. A bit more challenging so may take a while.

What are my summer projects? I'll sneak in a few robots when I can. But spending time programming, debugging, and interacting these two cuties is this summer's top priority. They're only young once! :)

That's Amy on the left, and Lindsey on the right.

@erco. Gorgeous. And you are correct, they are only young once. Enjoy them while you can. Once they hit 12 going on 21 then you will really have your hands full!!!!

I have a whole stack of 2"x2" boards being done...
3 of these will make a TriBlade (cheaply) - The RamBlade, the video/keyboard etc, and the proto board. All thru hole except a few caps/resistors/etc which will be presoldered. The props and eeproms are DIP.
There are a few prop based smt boards too.
And some other micro versions as well that fit well with the above.

After that I have a series of 1"x1" boards to be completed next...
    Updated CpuBlade, MemBlade, ClockBlade
New FT232Blade, CanBlade, and some others as well.

@Erco: You must be a proud dad. Mine are older and producing their own. Grandparenting is another truly fun time - All care and no responsibility.

    @Cluso: And maybe a 1"x1" board with a FT245R and a MAX488? Oh! and a 1"x1" board with a FT232 and a MAX488?
... Once they hit 12 going on 21 then you will really have your hands full!!!!
@NWCCTV: But by 31 they come right again.

    Good words, guys.

You ever hear someone say, "If I would have known how much fun the grandkids were, I woulda had them first."?

That's pretty much what I did since I'm 52 with 3-1/2 year old twins: eliminate the middleman! :)

I already have an FT232RL board (propplug equiv) but its considerably smaller - 0.6"x0.7".
