    Seems the search feature needs some improvement. I just searched for "smart" and got no hits.

    I agree - I found it using a web page I created (by scanning the OBEX pages) during the transistion to the new format.

    Unfortunately, I no longer have web hosting capabilities since my ISP was merged with Time Warner cable.

    Look like Google has rescanned the OBEX site - the search for "smart" brought up the correct link...

    @Ron,

    I've got a webhosting account for multiple domains, etc. Do you want an account to host this under? Just say the word and I'll set something up for you.

    I do know that the new obex does have a more "in depth" search function in the works, so hopefully it will be implemented soon.

    Jeff,
    Thanks! That is a generous offer. I have been looking at some of the hosting sites like GoDaddy, etc but haven't decided which one to go with.

    Which hosting provider are you using?

    Did they at least advise you, or did they just shut it down? Years ago I used a host that just one day up an vanished. No warning email, no message on their phone, nothing. At the time I was hosting about 20 client sites. What a nightmare that was!!!! I now use Host Nine and have had pretty good luck with them thus far.

    Ron, I'm using Hostgator. I've even got a domain name I'm willing to kick in for your page, objectexchange.us.

    (Don't get excited about what is there right now, it was me thinking out loud and it became the catalyst to get things started with the new obex. It's currently waiting to die (about 8 months from now) and would probably be perfect to host your temporary obex search system.) Yeah, I sometimes buy domain names as part of my thought/idea process. stupid huh? :)

    Jeff,
    The problem with my OBEX search page is that it is only a snapshot of the contents at a certain point in time. I wrote a VB script to parse the Parallax pages using the Document Object Model and create a single web page with the descriptions included. The VB script takes about an hour to run - not what I call a "system" per se.

    Relying on Google's database is probably - this little web page acts like a front-end shell

    Not sure how long this link may work - http://ronczap.home.insightbb.com/ParaSite.htm

    I recreated two different OBEX web pages as of today.

    The first one can be scanned using your web browser's "find" feature, the second display the description when you "mouse over" an item

    Again, I'm not sure how long they will bew available since Insight Cable was bought by Time Warner (which does not provide hosting services).
