Are you sure about this? I worked in an injection molding company about 16 years ago and we bought black and white plastic pellets. We then bought "color" that came in 25 pound boxes that were added to the white to produce the desired color. Has this changed in the past 16 years?
During 1992-6 the manufacturer of our modem cases purchased colored chips to our pantone grey. For our prototype runs he used whatever color was in the machine. All the chips I saw were pre-colored. I was not aware it could be done any other way - well of course the chip manufacturer obviously had to perform some sort of mixing.
Yea, We use to make a variety of colored plastic furniture fittings. They use to mix green color with the black material to get brown. For Tan they would just add some white material to the mix. There were also the standard Red, Blue and Yellow color also. They did not use a lot of that since they were making RTA furniture pieces. If you own any Sauder, Bush or O'Sullivan RTA furniture look at the plastic and zinc pieces that hold them together. If they say Titus they use to be made here in WA. Now it's Indiana and Mexico.
My dollar deal just got sweeter, accidentally. I just received this note from the seller:
Dear valued customers:
Thanks for your purchase in our shop. We are writing to inform due to a system bug we sent out a wrong item. We are very sorry for this problem. We had already resolved this bug and the correct item will be shipped shortly. Just to let you know do not be surprised if you received a wrong parcel first. The correct one will come later. Of course you can keep both of them. It's a gift from us.
Thanks for your understanding
Yours Sincerely,
- 97kboutique
My package arrived today with two purple "gifts" and the curious accompanying note. They planned ahead.
Haha! erco, you either ordered more breadboards than I did or THEY KNOW HOW MANY KIDS WE HAVE! I got one purple fish in an envelope with the same interesting letter.
As long as they arrive on soon to correct the unusual situation and arrive shortly, I will be happy and accept their kind regards!
Good catch, Rico! I did place a second order, two days after the first. Yet both nearly-empty packages arrived on soon the same day. Much goodly to your satisfaction!
#5.From a brochure of a car rental firm in Tokyo - When passenger of foot heave in sight, tootle the horn. Trumpet him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage then tootle him with vigor.
"When a passenger of the foot heave in sight, tootle the horn, trumpet at him melodiously at first, but if he still obstacles your passage, tootle him with vigor, express by mouth the warning Hi, hi! Beware the wandering horse that he shall not take fright as you pass him by. Do not explode the exhaust box at him. Go soothingly by. Give big space to the festive dog that shall sport in the roadway. Go soothingly in the grease-mud as there lurks the skid-demon. Avoid the tanglement of the dog with your wheel spokes. Press the braking of the foot as you round the corner to save collapse and tie-up."
That must have been written for around my part of the country.
When in the city, I often need to tootle vigorously but we also live in a rural area with Amish, so the the warning "Hi, hi!" expressed by mouth is often used so the wandering horse does not take fright as I pass him. Of course, the festive dog warning goes without saying, it's just good common sense!!
In a related story, here are 400x 6-cm wires for breadboarding for ~$4.68 Somehow Paypal always charges more than a buck per Canadian dollar. Gets me every time. But I need 'em, I always run out of these. Any color you like, as long as it's red.
I received 5 breadboards today, and 4 out of 5 feel just like a Parallax breadboard, excellent. One is a little tight, which might actually be advantageous for a permanent installation where contact oxidation might occur long-term. I'll get two to Ken.
Mine is also on the way. There's something good happening to china post recently - ordered from two different sellers at 06/18 and 06/19, and on 06/20 and 06/21 packages are already in U.S. !

Asian airlines make most of their money on freight and not from carrying passengers. A considerable portion of every flight is cargo and there are some planes dedicated strictly to cargo. Now you can understand why international and air shipments cost so much. Shipping by boat is a lot cheaper but then it takes about a month before you see it.
Got my order of 12 today, check out the color assortment:
If Ken needs a few more for testing, I can probably put a few in Snail Mail, without much of a problem... I guess green & white were in ample supply!

In that quantity and various colors, those start to look like LEGO bricks. 'Nuff said. Let the massive ordering and crazy vertical multicolor building begin!
Yes, this one is modular, they click to each other, so you can assemble larger one. Too bad, they don't have side contacts, so power may get auto distributed...
My "fancy" one also arrived. The color is dirt white, and despite being bubble-wrapped, the board itself is strongly scratched, like someone with turrent syndrome tried to install components in it
Hmmm. No good reason for that. All the little ones arrived in good shape, and the quality is surprisingly good IMO. If you complain, they will probably send you another unit. Hopefully that one is better.
Dirt white, as in dirty, speckled? Sounds like they molded in purge material when no one was looking. White is often the most expensive color to mold, since the material has to be very pure. No colorant, no regrind, when done properly.
I just ordered one myself from this seller to check the quality. Per RDL2004, you can never have too many breadboards!

And then there's this classic Snopes tale about China airlines and their first-rate (!) maintenance:

The slow boat from China is no more!
Quality seems to be good. No complaints yet!

@Mike: In post #2, OBC said he "couldn't give away" his green proto boards. If you REALLY like green, make him an offer!
Glad to know it wasn't just my imagination!
Just preparing for the solderless breadboard famine... Shhh!
I need at least blue to arrive before July 4 if my evil plan is to be fully realized!
Two blues (and a pile of greens) arrived today. Perhaps my fourth of July project will actually happen!
