Question about RS232 to USB adaptor

I am looking for an adaptor to convert an RS232 D9 pin to USB. I know there are tons of USB to RS232 adaptors but will these work in reverse? Anyone have a source for such a thing?

Thanks.
Don

Essentially it would be a RS232 to USB host adaptor.

You didn't say what gender, but Parallax sells a Male to USB connector. Is that what you are looking for?

    Thanks for the congrats!

That adaptor is the opposite of what I need. I need to go from RS232 to host USB.

In searching around it doesn't look like there is an off the shelf solution. I spoke with FTDI and they have a solution but it would require me to make a board to make and adaptor.

I have an application where I want to go from an exsiting DB9 port on a PLC to one of my devices that has a USB connection. It looks like either way I'll have to kluge something together.

What you want is a USB host and for that you'll need a microcontroller. There's a Propeller stack that might work depending on what USB device you have. Look in the ObEx for the object and its features. Another option would be to use a memory stick datalogger and some microcontroller.

I don't whether you are working with the older square end cables or the newer mini connectors but I have seen adapters for connecting to square end or Type-B connectors together.
