Problems with forum software and IE10

Yesterday I updated from IE9 to IE10 under windoze 7.

I could not enter a carriage return (the enter key) to get a new line or new paragraph. I have done this entry with Firefox which does not have this problem.

Since Windoze 8 comes with IE10 I presume this will become more of a problem as time goes by.

Why?. I thought IE was just a downloader for FireFox or Chrome which means that problem will become less of a problem as time goes by:)

BTW... Major computer makers in Taiwan are now exploring a new relationship with Mozilla to create a complete Firefox OS.

It seems they are feeling a bit weary of of MS, Apple, and Android. And while Linux works really well, there is no one to talk 'business' with.

Load Firefox, or Chrome. I personally have loaded both and still prefer Firefox. It seems that the little guys just work harder to respond to user's needs and expectations.

There are other browsers... quite a few.

So don't mindless accept IE as 'the one and only'.

IE is not the only problem I have with the forum software... My Xoom on Android 4.1 and it's browser (no identifier as to what it is!!!) will not properly permit editing mistakes on posts to the forum. BTW IE is still the most used. (note the lack of line feeds because I mostly use IE)

Yes, IE or not. A lot of people have been reporting a lot of weird behavior in the forum recently. Since about Christmas I think.

Strangely enough I have notice the "double posting" problem come up on the Raspberry Pi forum in the last week or so. It was not me personally but sometimes you see double posts and people complaining.

I start to wonder if it's "the man" in the middle, intercepting, reading, checking for terrorists, all our posts and then passing them on again. Might account for why the posting takes so long, and ends up duplicated sometimes.

    HI
Yep its been happening to me for a while now.
I write the message in notepad and copy paste across.
It does not copy blank lines though! so everything is squeezed up together.
I have Chrome. Don't like it, I don't know why, maybe Google and all its tendrils irritate me. The search engine can sometimes have a page of adverts before the web-finds.
Isn't it odd that after e-ons of writing software a massive firm like MS can not have spotted stuff like this. In IE some podcasts take an age for the audio to start and no screen display - it used to start up media-player which was fine. Under Chrome I get a tiny progress slide that is so small I can only adjust it in 5 minute jumps!
    Progress...

Odd you should say that because I have hardly ever noticed that there is advertising on Google search.

Let's try an example: My favourite food "Fish Fingers". Type that into Chrome's URL bar and what do we get?

Wikipedia article, the BBC and Telegraph on fish fingers, Jamie Oliver, some recipes...nope I can't find any advertising on the first 3 pages.

I have Windows 7 with IE 10 and pressing Enter in a post doesn't do anything. I installed Chrome but I am so used to using IE. BTW, if you don't know this already, pressing ALT will display the menu in IE 10.

I had to go look because I hadn't heard of "Fish Fingers" before. Here in the States, we have "Fish Sticks" and "Chicken Fingers" - I believe the fish sticks predated chicken fingers as a common food. Chicken and fish now appear to have nuggetized forms also and of course if you are catering to adults, or want to charge kids more, you have chicken tenders (which are actual tenderloin strips as they come off the bird, not minced and formed chicken).

Oh, by the way, I didn't get any advertising either. I may get a couple if something I am searching for is obviously a product purchased online but general queries are usually benign.

Frankly, I get concerned with a few things.

    A. New security features that may really be intended to drive generic browsers out of the marketplace.. so I use the 'more generic'.

    B. The internet seems to be getting more temperamental. I presume that the infrastructure is robbing bandwidth to sell iPads and such.

    C. Governments are getting more territorial. Taiwan is considering blocking some overseas websites due to intellectual property issues.

    D. Servers that can't keep up with the load. It seems that many of the glitches of late are due to server problems - some directly related to the Parallax Forum, but others seem to be due to going through Google to get to Parallax Forums. At times, I have had to go through the Parallax store site to reach the Parallax Forums.

In sum, the internet may just be suffering from age. As the world's economies are less vibrant, all enterprises look for ways to cut costs. If technology is your biggest overhead item, that is going to take a hit.

I've noticed this behavior to. Although it doesn't do it all the time - I think it doesn't except a return when editing a post but does when starting a new one. At least that's the way it seems to me.

Just enable compatibility mode for this website - and everything works fine. Using IE10 since begining.
