Switching VIA P910 on without power button

Hi folks,
I just bought a VIA EPIA P910 and kinda failed at ordering the frontpanel with the power button as well.
As I'm not totally in the need of the ports of the frontpanel but the power button I was wondering if I really need the frontpanel to switch the board on.
The spec (http://cl.ly/1M0f3H0r1r1Q/download/VIA%20EPIA-P910_datasheet_v130502.pdf) from VIA is saying that there is a group of pins for the "Panel Power Setting".
I assumed that I would just need to connect those pins temporarily and that the board should switch on.
But ... well ... it doesn't :-/
It would be great if you guys could gimme a hint.
Thanks in advance.

OOOKAY,
I'm' not seeing the correlation to a Parallax product. Wouldn't be better to ask in a VIA forum?
