Do I need to purchase a C program to start on a new adventure?

Hi
It's been a while since my name has shown up on the forum.
I've been trying to wrap my head around the Spin language to program my Quick Start Board.
Now, I'm seeing a new possible adventure, but am in need of finding out exactly what I need
to do in order to get started.
I know that C has been around for a very long time.
I did not get along well with C when I first attempted to learn it.
However: I'm always open to attempting or reattempting something from years ago.
Will I need to purchase C software from someplace?
That appears to be the source of my confusion.
Thanks for any and all comments.

Free. Full Parallax support including tutorials.
As jazzed said, Parallax just launched a brand new C learning program for the Propeller.
I will definitely check out the tutorials.
I need something simple, so that I can develop an image in my head
of just how this will work.
